MotorStorm: Pacific Rift (released as MotorStorm II in Japan) is the sequel to MotorStorm and is followed by MotorStorm: Apocalypse. It was announced by Sony after their acquisition of Evolution Studios and has sold over one million copies as of 9 December 2008. As of 1 October 2012, the online servers for the game have been permanently shut down.

MotorStorm: 3D Rift is a 3D mini re-release of Pacific Rift, containing 10 tracks as well as a selection of off-road vehicles from Pacific Rift. It is only single-player and has no trophies. The game was released on the PlayStation Network on 24 August 2010.

Configuration

Options that deviate from RPCS3's default settings and provide the best experience with this title are listed below.

CPU configuration

Write color buffers On Fixes excessively bright bloom.

Advanced configuration

Driver wake-up delay 50 Fixes crashes caused by RSX desyncs. Increase to 100 if still occurring.

Known Issues

  • In certain cases with resolution scaling lag at the start of races can be seen. This can be fixed by using the dynamic resolution scaling patch.
  • The Caldera Ridge Volcanic DLC track can have serious performance issues with resolution scaling higher than 100% in certain cases, which can also be fixed by disabling dynamic resolution scaling.

Split-screen shadow

  • Issue 11390: When playing split-screen multiplayer, a shadow from the left player's vehicle appears on the right-player's screen.

Split Screen

Works. However, the performance is much lower than that of single-player and is heavily impacted by resolution scaling. Most users should stick with 100% or 125% scaling. Even at 100% (720p) 60 FPS is very difficult to reach, so we don't recommend the 60FPS+ patches for split screen.
