MotorStorm: Pacific Rift (released as MotorStorm II in Japan) is the sequel to MotorStorm and is followed by MotorStorm: Apocalypse. It was announced by Sony after their acquisition of Evolution Studios and has sold over one million copies as of 9 December 2008. As of 1 October 2012, the online servers for the game have been permanently shut down.
MotorStorm: 3D Rift is a 3D mini re-release of Pacific Rift, containing 10 tracks as well as a selection of off-road vehicles from Pacific Rift. It is only single-player and has no trophies. The game was released on the PlayStation Network on 24 August 2010.
Configuration
Options that deviate from RPCS3's default settings and provide the best experience with this title are listed below.
CPU configuration
Setting | Option | Notes |
---|---|---|
SPU xfloat accuracy | Relaxed | No known issues, might improve performance |
SPU block size | Mega | Slight performance improvement |
GPU configuration
Setting | Option | Notes |
---|---|---|
Anisotropic filter | 16x | Greatly improves texture quality, no issues |
Anti-aliasing | Disabled | Improves performance significantly when using Resolution Scaling. Makes grass (only on razorback level) look pixelated |
Resolution scale threshold | 256x256 | (Mostly) Fixes pixelated bloom when using resolution scaling |
Write color buffers | On | Fixes excessively bright bloom |
Advanced configuration
Setting | Option | Notes |
---|---|---|
Read color buffers | On | Fixes visual issues with surfaces e.g mud |
Driver wake-up delay | 50 | Fixes crashes caused by RSX desyncs, increase to 100 if still occurring. |
Known Issues
In certain cases of resolution scaling, lag on starts of races will be seen, this can be fixed by turning off dynamic resolution scaling in patches
The Caldera Ridge Volcanic DLC track can have serious performance issues when scaling higher than 100 in certain cases, which can also be fixed by disabling dynamic resolution scaling.
Split Screen
Split screen works; however, the performance is much lower than that of single player. The performance is also HEAVILY impacted by resolution scaling. Most users should stick with 100% or 125% scaling. Even at 100% (720p), 60FPS is very difficult to reach, so we recommend sticking with the game's default 30fps for split screen.
Netplay testing
