Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time (known as Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time in most PAL countries) is the third installment in the Future series. Upon release, the game received positive reviews from critics, with praise particularly aimed at the story, visuals, and gameplay. The game takes place after Quest for Booty, with Ratchet searching the Breegus System of the Polaris Galaxy for Clank with the help of Captain Qwark, who is located in the Great Clock. Clank is being held captive by the villainous Dr. Nefarious, who claimed to be helping the Zoni repair Clank, but is actually seeking to use the Great Clock for his own ends. Ratchet and Clank must reunite to stop Nefarious from taking control of time, and along the way learn more about their own pasts.

A Crack in Time is a third person action adventure game with elements of shooting, role playing, platforming, puzzle solving and open space exploration. It allows Ratchet to explore several areas in space with the Aphelion, completing side missions on moons and travelling to planets within star sectors. Ratchet is able to wield several new weapons in battle, including Constructo Weapons that can be customized fully. While devices from Tools of Destruction are not present, both the Groovitron and Mr. Zurkon which previously featured as devices are featured as weapons, and can be upgraded along with other weapons. Clank has completely new gameplay based around his own time powers, using his temporal recordings to solve puzzles and the Chronoscepter to defeat enemies, rather than simply commanding units as in previous games.

Known Issues

Hover Boots and Rail-Grinding Collision Issues

When using Hover boots with 'boost' pads occasionally you're stopped instantly on the pad leading to an unexpected death. All pads are usable and all areas requiring a boost pad are reachable, but many attempts may be required(particularly for the final boss fight).

When rail-grinding on metal rails specifically, after a jump you occasionally fall through the rail. This occurs most notably at two points. The first is at Planet Torren IV(Molonoth Fields), after a lightning trap mid-way through the rail-grinding scene. To Avoid the first collision issue wait for either being hit by the trap, or a frame or two before to jump. Be sure to hold jump for as long as possible to avoid the trouble collision point in the rail. The second area is at the Great Clock during the final fight scene. The collision point is directly after starting the rail-grinding around the first two trap bombs. To avoid these collision points simply do not jump for the first 2 bombs.
